- SECURING YOUR RESERVATION
Prices are quoted in USD per person unless stated otherwise and are subject to change without notice.
To confirm your booking, you must:
- Complete and submit our booking form, including all travelers’ details as per their passports.
- Pay a 30% deposit on the total land arrangement cost, excluding airfare and gorilla permits, which both require full payment (100%) at the time of booking. This applies to all airfare booked through An African Tale, except for charter flights.
- Settle the balance 75 days prior to departure.
For bookings made within 75 days of departure, full prepayment is required at the time of confirmation. Failure to pay the balance on time may result in cancellation, with the deposit used to cover supplier cancellation fees. An African Tale is not responsible for delays or errors in traveler-provided information.
- CHANGE, CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
- Booking changes
Any changes to confirmed bookings, including amendments to travel dates, accommodations, or itineraries, will be subject to an administrative fee of $50 plus GST per change. Additional charges may apply depending on third-party supplier policies. Changes requested within 30 days of departure may not be accommodated and could result in forfeiture of the booking.
- Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations must be made in writing. Refund policy for land arrangements are as follows:
- More than 120 days prior to departure: 50% of the deposit forfeited.
- 90 to 120 days prior to departure: 75% of the deposit forfeited.
- 75 to 90 days prior to departure: 100% of the deposit forfeited.
- 75 days or less prior to departure: 100% of the total land arrangement forfeited.
Flights and Unused Services
Domestic and regional flights booked with An African Tale are non-refundable. Additionally, no refunds will be provided for any unused services.
- TRAVELERS RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel documents
It is our travelers responsibility to ensure that they meet the necessary travel documentation, permit/visa of the countries they intend to enter, transiting or visiting. Travelers must have a valid passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date) and be prepared to present government issued photo identification before boarding any flight. Landed immigrants without proper travel documents and permits may be denied boarding or entry. If travel documents are not in order travelers may be refused boarding and will be responsible for any costs incurred in catching up with the booking where applicable.
- Visas and permits
All travelers are liable to obtain the necessary visa/permit requested by the visited/transited destination.
- Traveling with minors
Special notarized documentation may be required for unaccompanied minors and children under 18 traveling without both parents. Parents, especially those with different last names from their children, should carry documentation proving custodial rights.
- TRAVEL INSURANCE
Medical insurance with coverage for emergency medical expenses, evacuation, and repatriation is mandatory for all travelers traveling with An African Tale. Proof of coverage may be requested prior to your trip. Failure to provide proof may result in cancellation without refund.
We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance, including coverage for baggage, delays, trip interruptions, and cancellations, to protect against unforeseen events. An African Tale is not liable for costs incurred due to lack of insurance.
- JOURNEY DISRUPTIONS AND EXTENSIONS
In the unlikely event of an unscheduled disruption or extension to the itinerary while traveling (flight delays/cancellations, hazardous conditions, civil unrest and strikes or any other cause which is beyond the control of An African Tale) all incurred expenses relating to these adjustments will be for the traveler’s account.
- PRICE ADJUSTMENT
Quoted journeys are based on costs and assumptions available at the time of booking, including ground arrangements, exchange rates, airfares, and fuel costs. While An African Tale strives to maintain quoted prices, unforeseen changes in these factors may necessitate adjustments.
In the rare event of a significant price increase, we will notify you promptly and outline your options, which may include accepting the adjusted price or canceling with a refund of payments made to us, excluding non-recoverable costs.
- RISKS AND LIABILITY
Travel to certain destinations may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to wildlife encounters, variable weather conditions, political instability, or health hazards. Travelers are responsible for assessing the risks associated with their chosen destinations and activities. While An African Tale works with reputable partners to ensure safety and comfort, we cannot guarantee risk-free travel. Travelers are strongly encouraged to follow local guidelines, stay informed about travel advisories, and obtain comprehensive travel insurance to mitigate potential risks. An African Tale is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or other losses resulting from risks associated with travel.
- FORCE MAJEUR
An African Tale is not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside its control, including natural disasters, wars, government actions, labor strikes, or pandemics. Refunds or compensation may not be provided, but we will assist with alternative arrangements where possible.
- CLAIMS AND APPLICABLE LAW
Should you encounter an issue or concern while traveling, you must advise our local partner and/or An African Tale immediately. If the problem is not resolved while in destination, you have twenty-one (21) days upon your return to notify An African Tale of your issue in writing. Failure to do so may result in delay of the resolution. An African Tale will not be held responsible for any representations made by agents, tour operators, property owners, independent contractors, or suppliers of any kind, and they may not waive any provisions of these Terms & Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and any disputes will fall under its jurisdiction.

An African Tale works with independent suppliers and is not liable for their actions, omissions, or failures. Services provided are subject to the regulations of the operating countries. Travelers are encouraged to review our partners’ terms where applicable.
